That is why it takes so long. Surely some of us will not clear it since MA program is so prestigious, the checks will definitely be very intensive.

I’m actually an applicant from another region and was told by HR that the checks would take 2 to 3 weeks. Not sure if it’s the same in SG. Hope that helps.

don't worry, if you got an indicative offer, you most likely got it. Unless you lied on your resume, committed a crime, the background check is usually easy to clear.

Credit history. Past employment appraisal. Etc. For some people may be harder.

As long as you are not bankrupt, and your performance reviews are not bad it’s ok.

But shouldn’t background checks be done before an offer is sent out? The email seems like an official offer, just lacking the details of it. Kind of seem unprofessional and unethical if an offer is retracted after it has been given out. They are probably currently settling some internal administrative work for all the MA prog hires that might be time consuming + handling other work as well.
