Yeah I did, but the date I applied for the process technician is much more latter than the operation technician. By the way, the status for my process technician is “application received”. Currently the status I’ve seen before are: application received, no longer under consideration, application under review, and application in progress. I have no idea on any status beyond application in progress.

Cheers,
Mr. K

I just got the interview invitation at HarbourFront Tower from ExxonMobil for Operations Technician. I’ve read through the forum thread and I’ve some questions tho, I’m seeking for some kind souls to enlighten me.

1. Will ExxonMobil cut the pay for foreigners? The current pay I saw from the past thread said that it’s around 1800 to 2000 SGD basic with around 1000 SGD shift allowance, 3 months AWS and VB.

2. I’m aware that degree holder is considered overqualified for the position, but is it true that ExxonMobil will just cap the pay maximum at it and considered you as a diploma holder? I mean like exactly the same?

3. Let’s say I don’t mind to take on the position and work as an Operations Technician, in future can I use the experience from it to just secure an Engineer job (either from ExxonMobil or other companies)? The experience is counted or not? Will it affect my career progression, in the sense of to working back as an Engineer or will be remain treated as a Technician? Can say that I’m planning to take on Technician job first as a stepping stone for few years to gain hands on experience and get into the OnG industry in Singapore. (To be honest the annual pay is decent enough to beat the pay of Engineer in Malaysia after considering living expenses and currency)

Thank you in advance to anyone who reply.

Cheers,
Mr. K

Hi Mr. K, unfortunately, those who already gotten the job has long moved on and left this forum. those who are still in this forum, from the looks of it, are those who also applied and tried to find reviews of the job and a common platform to share info on the application status.

from what I see on working in an MNCs, it is quite difficult to move internally unless the company really promote internal transfers. once you've signed to work for the said position u applied for, ur likely to stay there and climb the ladder just like everyone else.

u could either, after years of experience, apply for other OnG companies like Shell etc. or you could just directly apply as an engineer.

only if ur lucky, or if u believe in fate, if ur fated for internal transfers, then u will. otherwise, tough luck.

With regards to the status, mine is stated as “application in progress” for Operations Technicians batch1/2020. Received email invitation to come down to Harbourfront for interview on 19Nov2019 tuesday. Hoping all goes well.

If im not mistaken, read somewhere that they wana onboard new staff in April? Would be great if anyone can rectify.
