I was polite enough during the interview already. At the end of the interview, I just say thankyou for the time/interview. They want to employ me will call me the next day. I always give them a few days to call, if didn't receive any call from the interviewer, I will just move on. The bottomline is not to appear desperate. I don't understand why some people still want to follow up with a call after the interview. Pointless.

Work is work. Passion is passion. Without work, no income no money to sustain your passion. So actually work is important as you need money.

Will be leaving end of aug due to company restructuring. damn sian. have went for an interview. lowball me by almost 40%. then ask me can i go lower? i am thinking, issit pple like us (i am 40s), always have to eat humble pie and lie low on the floor for employers to step on us and spit hard on us? still said i cant quit within this 2 years if i am on the job? i am thinking if i really take this job to tide over, i ll definitely run once a better offer come along.
Recruiters still tried her best to ask me to "accept" the job. yah la, once i accepted, she ll get her commission and kick me off her list liao while i LL die there.
luckily i have saved up a substantial amount over these 20 years. if not i ll really be at the mercy of these assholes employers.
times are real bad for sinkies like us.
sigh

I was retrenched early in the year. Job taken by foreigner. Mind you, they are not cheap. In fact, they are more expensive because of all the perks that the company needs to give them. So happens that the new boss is a foreigner. So he wants his own kind.
Actually, I was looking forward to it so that I can get the payout. I was not going anywhere in the company. I am not rich but I live a simple life. So, the payout helps. Luckily for me, I got a job almost immediately that pays the same as my last drawn salary.
As I said, I was lucky. But luck doesn't come twice.

Are you able to retire now? How much is your household net worth? How much is your wife's salary?
