I'm exactly caught up in the same situation, kinda left my 2nd job on bad terms well not entirely bad but it wasn't ideal. I miss my 1st job now (it was a contract role), I left when my contract was up cos I wanted to explore other opportunities and now I ended up regretting cos it was a stable company, had a great boss and the environment was conducive. As opposed to my 2nd job, it was totally a toxic environment to be in; upper management sucks, everyone seems to be looking out for themselves. But anyway I never regretted quitting my 2nd job, only wished I had done much earlier when I saw the signs coming.

I'm not intending to leave my 2nd job out of resume since it was about 8 months. My contract job was 3 months. I need to put my contract job in though cos I can get strong referrals from them. I'm not intending to provide referees for the 2nd job though. Will that be suspicious? What will the hiring manager?

I'm not exactly on the lookout for another job, I want to be sure I don't dive into the wrong company and regret again.

That was a very good qns!!! In fact i faced a difficult time looking for a job because i was too "honest" for the 4mths of job search. Some hiring managers even told me off the fact that he don't like quitter who quit without a job or dubious over why i quit without job. (typical SG thinking!!)

I give alot of thoughts before l left my previous job. I have to pretend and give in to my lousy boss to get a referral letter to safe guard myself before i leave. My exboss bad mouthed one of my ex colleague once, she didnt find a job till date cos bad records in most headhunters firm.

Anyway in conclusion, think of a personal reasons for leaving your job. Dont be too honest, sg cant take it. A white lie better than you jobless. Example, quit your job because of health reasons, or taking care of parents etc.
Bad examples that bosses will feel suspicious of you are "conflict with bosses, job not fit and even company restructuring.. "

How long have you been unemployed? Do you have a family to support? How are you supporting your family?

Thumbs down

Has anyone gone through an interview that gives you a feeling as if the interviewer 'likes' you very much and as if want to employ you on the spot. Later, after a few days no news from them. Feel like you got fooled. lol. I just went to an interview few days ago and the hr manager seem to 'like' me very much and even give me her name card say if anything can call to check. She gave me the impression like I am going to be employed. Anyway, I didn't call up. Don't want to give people the impression that I am desperate.

You can always be polite and send a thank-you note to the interviewer(s) and indicate that you appreciate the time and effort taken. End up with that you are looking forward to an opportunity to work together.
