From my experience, I am often hired on the spot. If I don't , mean I don't get hired. Very rarely I waited weeks to get informed I was hired cos the companies are as urgent as the candidate. Getting updates from recruiters are a waste of time. Employers dun wan you mean dun wan you. If employers want you, the most you wait next day, they will inform you of the status. You don't need to chase them.

I went to all 5 interviews, got 1 offer from a small company and accepted it.

Then 1 week before I started working, the company rescinded the offer because of budget issues. Knn. I had to start all over again. Finally after 4 more months and 3 more interviews I got another job offer and accepted it. I think for the past one year I must have applied to 1000+ jobs. Hit rate is damn low, but you only need 1 job. So don't give up.
Sorry to hear about the rescinded offer. I totally feel you after I kenna 2 times fake hope from 2 employers. One of them even got the cheek to tell me my starting pay is higher than expected pay and will draft a letter of appt, only to last minute tell me they freeze headcount and then contact me again to tell me the hr will try to speak to the management again and no news from them . Horrible company. The other company is due to the manage I am suppose to work under suddenly left the company so I was left stranded for awhile. Need to restart job searching.

Anyway , thanks for the encouragement. Weird employers are everywhere.

Errr I haven’t been hired on the spot unless it’s a temp or contract job. For perm positions I’ll usually get a call within 2-3 working days for a second interview with HR. Then another call after for the signing of contract.
If you want to wait for a call. I’d say the max is a week. Don’t lose hope!

So it took you a year to find a permanent job? I don't think I can last that long having bills to pay. If I can't get a permanent job in 3 months, I will take up contract roles for at least 6 months. I always tried to applied for permanent role but it's damn hard to get a offer and i have been searching for the past 3 months already.

So sad to said I've been on contract jobs for 2 years already and i think i will just have to start another contract role again.

I am the poster.

I usually hired on the spot for perm position. Never taken temp or contract job before.

I often see ppl wait and wait for results. It truly is a waste of time. Unless is civil service .Or some managerial higher level. Even so, I believe 2,3 days no news mean no news unless the person they hire last minute back out.

I think it depends. I have been to interview at civil sector, MNCs and SMEs and I think sme can offer you on the spot if the interviewer can make the decision on the spot. If not maybe 1 to 2 days.

MNC usually is within 1 to 2 weeks maybe due to the number of employees in the company

Haha I agree with these buzz words. I have these as part of my qualifications and past experience, and I do get calls or emails on off from recruiters... But the problem is, the buzzwords caught their attention, the roles offered do not match the profile. The thing is these buzzwords make up of jobs and experiences with a huge variety of depth and wide range of industries, so sometime it is difficult for recruiter to do a perfect match. Unlike something like "financial accounting", which is quite straight forward to do a role and profile match.

Does anyone has this experience ?

You went to an interview and the interview went well and you managed to impress the Interviewer. Then the interviewer was pleased to offer you the job and told you they will send the Letter of Offer via email to you and to bring it on the first day of work. Then you did not receive their email. Then you happen to see they put up an advertisement for the same position 9 hours later (on the same day you went tothe interview)

I do not want to sound pushy and desperate so I did not email them to ask for the Letter of Offer. I just want to make out what is happening here.

Age discrimination is real in Singapore.

Every time the company set to hire me, last minute rescind the offer or just MIA. Giving me false hope.

Not sure why the market has to operate this way.

I am in my early 40s. So it is a sin to be at this age ? Or the young ones will forever be young ?
