agree, like many people mentioned above, join when you can get a director role. Until that, stay away. It's full of lackey mentality. Recently a director who joined, bought over all the previous lackeys. The rest of the team can lan lan suck thumb

The lackey culture was started from top management. They like to bring in their friends and relatives. They like people who carry balls. Those who produce hard work are considered workers. Only lackeys got promoted. Very poor leadership from management.

Inter-department relationship is hostile. There is no such thing as work life balance. Sometime the meetings start at 6pm at lasted hours.

Turnover rate is very high, including the HR dept.

Annual appraisal is a joke. Your performance grade is decided before they appraise you.

What happens is, even when you have been producing top quality work, you may end up still with a poor appraisal grade. Few who asked their bosses about their appraisals often hear lame excuses. The more common ones are that you have just joined and your first appraisal cannot be too good; he cannot give too many top grades in a team simply because he had given it to his obedient lackey; you are still new; comforting you that the difference in bonus is very little, etc etc.

In many ways, your appraisal is judged prematurely because they give you your appraisal grade not based on your final work done but their subjective impression of you, which you have to form in them by licking their balls first.

Sad but true.

Joined from vendor and been around for sometime. have been trying to move out few times, but find it quite hard. search companies don't value the experiences gain even though I was on proj mgt role. skills and exp gained not portable to other industries. total package becomes non-competitive after a few yrs. advise for young or early career builders to look elsewhere.

not surprising
recruiters know that the people coming out from such companies only know paper pushing and have no real exceptional skills to set them apart. once you join a company such as this, very hard to break back into the A (or even B ) List companies. Mostly have to settle for other such SME's or civil service in a functional role (Which cannot farm). Good for those at the tail end of the career who want to shake leg.
