If you're selected, the process should move quite fast. There will be a call up for medical screening, likely within a week. And sign official contract within another week. But yes maybe holiday period so a bit slower.

Default Shortlisted

Hi, I was shortlisted after 2 weeks ago for a stat board. Currently they are doing reference heck with my current ministry. Can I know how long will the reference check take and what will be the next step? TIA.

Usually within a week or so. But since it's the holiday period now, things might move slowly.

So should I let my boss know about it first or will it be better to wait till I sign the letter of appointment? Not sure if my boss will know about the reference check.

Always wait till sign then announce. About reference check, dunno if HR will leak to your boss or management that you're looking for another job, but if they do then you can't do anything about it anyway.

I went for the final interview at one of the ministries in mid Dec. After 2 weeks, HR said they can come back to me another 2 - 3 weeks. Do I still stand a chance?

Long December weekend, naturally their response will be slower.

SB HR here. During the Dec to Feb period, things will get slower. Also, let me be blunt. If you went for a final interview, but did not receive callback for over 2 weeks, then we have a candidate more suitable who hasn't accepted our offer yet, and we will give them up to 4 weeks time. If they accept, we'll send you a rejection letter. If they do not accept, we will move on to the next most suitable candidate. The maximum we keep you waiting after your final interview is 4 weeks, at which point we will always send rejection letters.
