If i had known I had to wait 6 months before i gotten this lousy job, I would have.
1. learn driving; at least can be part time female taxi driver;
2. learn cooking; can fry cha kway tiao part time in market;
3. learn baking; work for really stupid low pay at bread talk.
I have 2 and a half months more to go before i decide to be out of job and get chase out of home... such is the sad life of being single...

Just say economy no good, you previous company downsizing and you lost the job. I am guessing you are looking at very junior clerical or exec level job, so unlikely any employer will dwell too much into it.

Hi, I recently went for interview and was honest to them the interviewer about my absence of 2 years in the market and currently away from the job market for more than 6 months.
The absence for 2 years was taking a break and living in another country and the current 6 months away was helping out my dad with his things. The interviewer was not very interested to ask further questions on it so the conversation just moved on to focus on my previous job.
from that interview I realised that simple honesty sometimes is the best.

Precisely. Companies are not honest themselves as well. If you see the same company advertising every now and then in a short span of time, obviously something is wrong with that company. I have seen a few companies, same companies, advertising many times within a month or advertising again after a few months.
