I'm considering a switch myself so I think would be useful if we have such info to consider.
Of course I know you don't go into teaching for the money and it's not a career that's going to make you rich but at least it would serve as a guide for those considering a switch.
Cheers!

You should be comparing annual salary (i.e. with bonuses). Further, depending on how you look at it, the extra free time during the school holidays and term breaks can be viewed as additional intangible benefit.

Thanks for the info!
I think it's expected that will be a salary cut compared to your previous job. You are going in as an untrained teacher anyway.
But I believe once you complete the training and start teaching, MOE will try to get your pay to catch up to your peers. If you want to go into teaching and expecting better pay immediately, it's probably not the career you should be looking at.

The figure is probably close to the max of GEO 1.1 salary scale (untrained teacher grade), so maybe they can't offer more unless they give a higher grade at the entry level, which they will not do.

Hi, anyone knows what's the starting pay for PGDE trained teachers? I'm in my final semester in one of the local universities, expected to graduate with first class. I've taught before and I like teaching, so I'm seriously considering to become a teacher. I would like to know about the starting pay, but MOE website gives a range instead and the teachers whom I know are not quite sure. So I thought of this forum as a try! Thanks in advance!
