Default From recruitment agency seconded to statutory board

Hi

Re: From recruitment agency seconded to statutory board

Recently I applied for a role within a statutory board through a recruitment agency. Then I recieved a call from a recruitment agency that I'm shortlisted for an interview with the statutory board.

The next day after the interview I received a call that I'm being selected by the statutory board. I gave them my details for them to get the necessary approval and clearance which will take 2 weeks.

The job offer from a recruitment agency is as follows:

Role: Assistant Director
Estimated package: $8kplus + AWS + 14 days AL + FCL and no VB
Contract period: 1 year (subject to approval for renew)

Current package
Role: Senior Manager
Package: $7k + AWS + 2 mths VB + 14 days AL and FCL
Contract period: 2 years (likely to renew as project is still ongoing)

My question is if the offer for a AD role is worth taking? I consider this a step up and and also a stepping stone to a perm position in a statutory board in future.

My question is if the offer for a AD role is worth taking? I consider this a step up and and also a stepping stone to a perm position in a statutory board in future. All in all, the offer from the recruitment agency just match my current package only but it pave the way to join statutory board permanently in future.

If I were you, I will take this offer. I got 20% increment on my base salary and an opportunity to be converted into perm in a statutory board.

secondment is for eg u are with Stat board A (e.g Enterprise Singapore)
during your time with ESG, as part of staff rotation, ESG second you out to another Stat board/different ministry for about 2 years or so...then u come back to take up a more senior position in the original SB for example (subject to headcount availability etc)

--> not an instance of you get hired by the SB but seconded to the recruitment agency
(what for the SB / Ministry hire u only to push u to recruitment agency do external work unless its for some job rotation for your career trajectory?)

what your scenario describe is very common these days in public service whereby
you are potentially employed as full timer but benefits wise depends

if your direct paymaster (as per your scenario) is the recruitment agency, may well have no PB in your salary entitlement + the so-called 13mth bonus is conveniently term as something else eg completion bonus if you finish the full 1 year of contract...leave may also be different in numbers

--> and since your paymaster is the RA instead of the SB/ministry, they can have every right to not continue your contract after it expires, do not assume will get auto renewed
(public service wide, they can only sign the staff to max 3 full time contracts...by which aft tt you either may get emplace onto the SB/Ministry or let go)

versus that of hire directly by the SB/Ministry, you will get your PB, year-end bonus etc
AL wise usually would have 18 (even if u join as junior freshie) for full year
Gets pro-rated depend on when u join lor
