You are the oudated one.. nowadays progression also subjected to performance review.
Last year quite a few A1 didn't make A2, S1 even more didn't make S2.

lol, one manager itself cannot change much, perhaps only for your own jobs. takes the whole firm’s executive to feel that way then can change. and if u only junior manager also cannot change much… i totally agree with the backward mindset and toxic environment, really a dark place to be in, glad to gave left it before letting everyone take turns to **** on me

progression has never been auto. why in the world would you want to progress someone who cant perform at the level of the next rank? there is 0 incentive and logic to make progression automatic. if that was true everyone would just not do anything as an a1, s1 and s2 and only work hard in the promotion year. if you disagree with this, then all hope is lost for you. if you can begin to understand this simple business rationale there may still be hope after all.

Progression of every level is not Auto.
If you cmi at a1, how are you to convince ppl that you can be a2/ associate yr2?
So it is not auto
genZ these day think and complain too much, but want good pay
