Big 4 pays rental for their buildings . Wont they want people back to office once it opens up?

If juniors come back surely M & SM need to return right

Wouldn’t it only be a matter of time before luck runs out?

How different is the life of someone extremely lucky and someone extremely unlucky?

Do they not moderate your working hours to be fair against your peers?

Wha variance very huge bro. Working hours is just the unit of measurement. The factors are many.

Client itself got many variables already, can be very complexity of biz and structure, can be very chin chai or very anal. timeline also can be need to report by xyz date vs can tu for 4 months kind.

Internally, your manager itself can be the devil or the angel, same goes for your team, you can have a team full of monkeys or a team full of people on auto pilot.

So considering all the factors the spectrum is very huge. Very good means maybe peak OT until 10pm for 2 weeks can close case. Very cui means 4 months of OT till 3am from your interims to finals also see before.

Some engagements can be very relaxed. small company, no urgent deadlines, no complex workpapers, client willing to pay for filing extension. Everyday can switch off laptop at 6pm

Those unlucky ones are booked 6 to 9 months on one large engagement with many deadlines and with many bullshiit like quarterly reviews, interim, pre-final, final, many meetings, many reporting deadlines and all these will overlap each other so you can be doing interim , Q3 review and pre-final concurrently while preparing for meeting with client. Your peak period will be 6 to 9 months. Those even more unlucky ones will be double booked on other engagements on top of this large engagement

For my batch.

Worst case: 1-3am daily on weekdays for peak, and expected to clock in weekends. Best case: 8pm for most days for peak.

In addition, it does not mean those who have good peaks will have bad off-peaks and vice versa.

Gunning for equity partner position. Didnt manage to get into prestigious roles such as Investment Banking in BB banks and Strategy Consultant in MBB firms, hencd my next best alternative to make it big will be equity partner in big4.

Seeing so many people working so late beyond their working hours is simply tragic. Research hace shown that working overtime is linked with increased likelihood of developing critical illnesses or death. Imagine developing such complications in your mid life, this may cause a strain in your family resources which is saddening. Dont you guys feel even a sense of guilt when this happened to your loved ones??

If you do feel sense of guilt, thats the right way to think. As a financial services director and a Chartered Financial Consultant, i am specialized in providing financial and wealth advisory services specializing on family planning for middle aged adults. With over 12 years of experience in the financial services industry, such adversaties mentioned above would not be an obstacle with the financial products that we could offer.

Alternatively, if you want to step out of the corporate slave life, you could also join our team which are experienced financial consultants that are well renumerated compared to other industries such as banking, law and medicine.

If you are interested, do not hesitate to hit me up
