to be fair big 4 is a decent career starting point except for the low pay long hours. just that with so many undergrads recieving multiple offers from big 4 before they even grad it really isnt something worth mentioning

I would take any top MNC (P&G, GE, Microsoft, Google, Unilever, She'll etc) over big 4 anyway.
The people who go to big 4 are jokesters, as evinced from the caliber of people they have. PLUS, as you said it, low pay and long hours....

if you are from SIM and you even get a call for an interview, its like a dream come true.
pls note though, SIMs cannot progress to manager - different track.

That goes without saying. There is no way the big 4 can even remotely match giants like Google & Shell, these guys compete for talent at the same calibre as your banking JPM & BofA.
What I mean is for a sim if they can get an offer from big4, it's a decent starting point considering there is no way a top mnc gonna offer them anything except maybe for diploma technical or clerical jobs. They should just be thankful a lifeline was thrown to them instead of going about boasting about joining a big4 as if this was some indication they have 'made it'.

Most of us know big4 is a stepping stone to another careers like corporate finance controllers in MNC, product controllers in banks, analysts in private equity, M&A in investment banking... no need to bash the many SIM grads working in Big4

rofl. when was joining a big 4 ever seen as a stepping stone to private equity or investment banking?
the most common stepping stone is to some mnc / glc accountant or internal auditor.

It's just another fantasy. Bet you very soon many posters will come in claiming they are SIM grads who have made it big as fund manager / investment bankers by joining a Big 4.
This has been the norm for any SIM thread here - for some reason it always invites a lot of so called SIM grads eager to share their success story/lie.

since when can sim even join the big4? I know for a fact that the big4 practically hires anyone from the 3 local accountancy programme. sim? they don't even join on the associate track, even if they make it into audit, its like some assistant thing
