gov sector not easy either. coz dun have much sci related jobs as well unless moh, astar or ava only. tts abt it. if u willing to take on any gen deg positions, be prepared to tough it out against much more candidates from other disciplines. your class of honours counts a lot in this case

Yup. I'm just hoping for the best. I have no intention of applying to astar nor ava. I think I'm not the only one being trapped in this unpopular discipline...many more as along as those doing general sciences i.e. biochem..biology...are facing similar problem. I could only try to think positively now.

Ever thought of joining the medtech industry? There are several niches there that are blossoming in their own rights. The real research that they do however, isn't exactly based here in Singapore. Another sad truth.

Why did u choose lfe sci in the first place lol? I mean it has been a dwindling industry ever since Phillip Yeo said in 2007 that graduates are only qualified to wash test tubes. If u had applied for this course in the 03-06 era, i could still understand lol. Were you passionate in sci in the first place? Coz many of my cohort mates end up in the unenviable position of doing sales after they graduated from life sci...

The medtech industry do not usually take in life science undergrads as well. Have been applying to some of these companies.
R&D will require a Phd and more often R&D are not done in Singapore. As for production wise, they usually take in bioengineering/chemical engineering undergrads who have knowledge of biological/pharmaceutical and engineering principles.
Most of my friends went to astar/Biopolis/ NUS/ NTU as a research officer after completing their life science degree.

Yea. I second that. I'm waiting to see how many graduates can these research institutes absorb with so many life sci graduates each year.
