996 is less of a thing in the Singapore office, but you can get long hours from time to time. WLB strongly depends on the team (checked with my connections working there, different teams, different cultures, and different WLB).
If your team is based in China, and you are one of the few remote workers, your WLB can be tough. If your team is mainly based in Singapore, your hour is highly controllable, less likely to encounter long hours.
WLB also depends on team nature. If you work in the TikTok e-commerce team, WLB can be tougher, as they roll features really fast. Other teams also have their own status, so based on your offer, you can evaluate whether it is worth it yourself.

Thank you for your insights!
How about communication and inclusivity? Did you have any issues being a Singaporean there?

Actually putting aside high pay and whatnot, do you guys feel that working for someplace like bytedance tiktok, is really meaningful? At the end of the day, it's just a frivolous Chinese social media platform running on frivolity. Personally I think the e-commerce companies are already pretty frivolous but at least there's an argument that it's driving change in how people purchase goods. As for say fintech, you can say it's the future of finance, which is the lifeblood of commerce. But tiktok is like... Errr
To many gen Zs nowadays, finding meaning in their jobs and the mission of their companies, is just as important as the compensation. Would you be content to say that all your hard work and skills are being used for teenagers to produce tiktok videos?

of cos not saying being in the entertainment business is wholly pointless. cinemas are trillion dollar industry. and people have been dressing up as clowns and jesters since ancient times.
but seriously, all that programming skill and hours grinding as SWE, and would you really be proud to say that you work for a company that's essentially about tweens producing 1 min videos?

What are you even talking about? The whole point of any job is to acquire skills and eventually join a company that you truly like and believe in.
Whether you think a company is worth working for or not is completely irrelevant, no one cares whether you think Tiktok is a company worthy of being proud to work in or not... that's not up to you.
