Chinese backed tech company WLB in Singapore

The point of the post was to ask about WLB, because the bytedance recruiters have been bombing me with linkedin mesaages and emails, even sent me a PDF that documents how their WLB doesn't suck, which is quite the opposite from what everyone has been saying.

Anyway, I do know many people who work in big tech like atlassian and google, but I don't think grad and junior swe gets to scale at all. If Bytedance provides this opportunity then good for them.

Firstly congrats on your offer.

Learned a lot more and made quite some connections in Bytedance and TikTok Singapore. Maybe I can try to clear your doubt.

996 is less of a thing in the Singapore office, but you can get long hours from time to time. WLB strongly depends on the team (checked with my connections working there, different teams, different cultures, and different WLB).

If your team is based in China, and you are one of the few remote workers, your WLB can be tough. If your team is mainly based in Singapore, your hour is highly controllable, less likely to encounter long hours.

WLB also depends on team nature. If you work in the TikTok e-commerce team, WLB can be tougher, as they roll features really fast. Other teams also have their own status, so based on your offer, you can evaluate whether it is worth it yourself.

U all complain about the OT but don’t complain about the high pay.. lmao.
