Not true, due to skillset and exposure.

Your first class honours will be wasted if you dont join the public sector. Policy role is usually the best dept in the ministry.
Also, there is usually not much progression for marketing. Like marketing in prudential is also considered a MNC but they just liaise with vendors to create ads, organise events or whatever. Unless the MNC's main service is in the comms or advertising space, if not marketing is a sidelined, cost center dept. any third class student can work in marketing, just need to speak well and look good.

Yup, don't waste time in marketing. The pay is usually pathetic and the job thoroughly unglamorous. Good luck getting matches on dating apps if your job title reads Marketing Exec...

Yeah right, because nothing is sexier than a civil servant. Please.

I second this. I think the policy role has a better outlook. Look at this 10-20 years down the road, rather than the individual starting pay.

True, but hopefully the thread starter is suitable for civil service culture. It's really not for everyone.

If nothing else the pay is better. Good luck slogging for 3k pay at your marketing job and trying to dig a way out of the rut you'll be stuck in.
