And I am sure now some people earn more than 120k in grad offer, I was kinda low balled and also I joined more than half a year ago, market should be more hyped now I guess.
Enjoy while you can, tech bubble bursting soon. The high pay
is unsustainable, too many mediocre engineers just riding the wave.

None as both of them are too niche into defense tech market. Govtech best

I am a NUS CS fresh grad, and have quite a bit of experience in front-end and back-end through my side projects.

Considering some small local startups but are their starting salary significantly lower?

I am looking at minimum of 5k starting if possible.

Any pros and cons of starting my first job in a smaller scale startup? Not talking about large ones like Shopback. Probably headcount of < 20 that kind.

When you say "significantly lower", you mean lower than where?

I used to work in an MNC, moved to a small startup, and got a pay rise. But this was not the level of Google. Also, the salaries vary a lot between startups.

Pros of startups:
- lack of corporate fluff (red tape, lengthy procedures, slowly moving projects, a lot of documentation etc)
- as a consequence, you can focus on learning hands-on stuff, and you will get a lot of exposure to different areas
- with you work, you can have a real impact on the company

Cons of startups:
- less stable. The majority of startups don't stand the test of time.
- less structured processes - can be chaotic
- you work in a company that (almost) nobody heard of. On the opposite, having a big name in your CV could be beneficial in the future.

You're not going to get any real answer on here, everyone just gives some generic nonsense that's going to be useless for you.

Try checking glassdoor, linkedin, etc find people who used to work in those "startups" and ask them instead.

Nice to read that tech grads are getting decent pay in Singapore.

I'm ten years your senior I'm earning around 400K SGD per year. Definitely doable as a local grad. I would say that hitting 1m a year feels further as the income ceiling tend to be around 500k, and anything more you likely need to move to USA.
