Yes of course. There's no obligation. You don't even have to feel bad about it. It's all about making money and getting a better life.

Ive heard that a last minute retraction can happen the other way too! A well known organization actually retracted an offer after the successful candidate signed the appointment letter! They cited isssues with "head count".

Loyalty only applies when fighting for the country, and even then, I suspect it's hard to find loyal nuts in the armed forces any more. It's all about the money.

Sorry, i disagree.

It is not about loyalty but personal values.Eg the value of your word.

And the answer to this question lies with an examination of your own values and beliefs.

Seeking an answer for this question here is to seek for acceptance of your own belief. You already have an answer, but just want to be sure others agree with it.

Let me know if I spoke in error.

awesome - let me know when you start making a living off this self-indulgent ********.

to the OP, do whatever you want with it. the company's not going to be loyal to you - no reason for you to be kind to them.

Fully agree. Try eating values for lunch today.

quasi-government, entry level job but I already have some years of exp.

I am thinking of what the repercussions will be if I gave up the offer and go for another quasi-government entity!

Depends who is the hirer but I guess if its entry level doesnt really matter much to them?

Do you have to compensate the notice period?
