Anyway to the OP, MTI’s Economist Service is really the cream of the crop and I’d say it’s slightly above the FSO sheen at MFA in terms of competitiveness. So do not be disheartened if you didn’t make the cut.
Err...you know that persons with private degrees but with masters from local universities are usually still as considered in the same light as private degree holders right. Only the first degree counts (most civil service jobs do not pay you extra even for having a masters - because its not a requirement in the job description).

Thats a reasonable rate - since MTI fresh grad ADs are paid about 3.8k starting (with NS).
It could very well be your resume or cover letter.

What class of honours did you obtain for your Bachelor’s? I presume it is at least a 2nd Upper (since you were able to take on a Masters)? If it’s a 2nd Lower, it could explain why you’ve been consistently rejected.

Yea i got a second lower for my engineering degree in NUS. Guess that's it then haha, didnt know they are so fixated on the first degree and omit my masters (though my GPA from my masters is quite good and its related to them). Will look elsewhere then. Thanks all!

There’s your answer OP. A masters doesn’t invalidate your earlier grades. In the CS, only the first degree really counts.

Yup the civil service is quite elitist and stringent. Look towards the private sector. I'm sure your masters + work experience would at least count for something.

Yea but then again its well known that ministries focus a lot on grades.

Not sure if TS can try to find a career related to MTI, get some job experience under your belt and try applying again? Not sure if the HR will be more receptive. If not it's like anyone who did not excel in the first degree gets condemned forever. Anyone knows if ministry is willing to overlook grades for job experience?

The positions are on the ordinary MXO scheme. ESG and EDB pay similarly too (3.8k-4.1k).
