News today showed that economy is expected to rise in 2021. Would this news impact the upcoming avc? Hopefully engineers will get their MAC also. Didn't get the payout in Aug

what a farking strawman. no one is saying they are redundant. but overpaid? definitely

most of the salt against CS is that they are overpaid, especially those mediocre cunts in upper/top management.

Firstly the private sector is the key provider of jobs in the economy. It is also the key driver of the economy. The private sector is absolutely critical in Singapore's economy.

That said, I have noticed a lot of attacks on the public sector which seem to imply the public sector is completely redundant. That is an overly simplistic way of thinking.

One should not forget that the public service is the "hands and legs" that enables the entire scope of public services. Things that many take for granted. Educators, administrators of the CPF scheme, welfare and social services, foreign relations, trade, industry regulation, regulation of businesses, regulation of professionals, national defence, taxes...the list goes on and on.

Hope that the participants of this forum will exercise more moderation and refrain from useless wrangling in the dirt.

Doesn't the term "jiak liao bee" clearly imply uselessness (as opposed to over-remuneration)?

The use of this term has nothing to do with pay, but with the existential justification of civil servants.

Check your attacks before you use them. In this case your own assumption resulted in YOU falling into the trap of using strawman illogic!

Back to year 1 law school you go!
