Firstly the private sector is the key provider of jobs in the economy. It is also the key driver of the economy. The private sector is absolutely critical in Singapore's economy.
That said, I have noticed a lot of attacks on the public sector which seem to imply the public sector is completely redundant. That is an overly simplistic way of thinking.
One should not forget that the public service is the "hands and legs" that enables the entire scope of public services. Things that many take for granted. Educators, administrators of the CPF scheme, welfare and social services, foreign relations, trade, industry regulation, regulation of businesses, regulation of professionals, national defence, taxes...the list goes on and on.
Hope that the participants of this forum will exercise more moderation and refrain from useless wrangling in the dirt.

Today’s news announced that Q3 economy is picking up, and it seems good. I remember 2017, after MIT cited that economy for Q3 is extremely good, in 1 decade, then next few days they announced CS getting 1 month bonus. So finger crossed for CS. Cheers!!
Of course I’m not expecting same like 2017, however probably slight better than last year.

whatever it may be but the least credit the ground people who have been carrying and supporting the operational needs.
These are the groups of people need to be take care of.
Like that recently news from PSD about the VL carry forward and encash of VL which do help the lower salary staff as they are also spending extra because of covid.
But the carry forward VL and encash policy wasn't clearly written so it might be carry forward 50% and balance of the VL will be encash but on the hand who the heck want to keep so many VL for what? when 2020 VL still in full and 2021 highly doubt can take any holiday leave to oversea.
For me, i rather take the encash first and balance of the VL to be carry forward. at least the encash can solve the financial needs for some people.

Bad debt happens every year with or without a flu bug going around. Some banks are doing much better than others depending on their core biz, do you know what you are talking about not?
