Guess the reply was not clear enough? The comparison was made by comparing an apple with an apple. i.e. to say, an average PB in CS vs. an average PB in PTE/GLC.

Starting Basic for uni fresh grad in PTE/GLC is also not paid to the market rate compared to CS, making the annual package so much more below the market rate in PTE/GLC.

Take for example (real life one) a fresh grad Engineer FCH scholar without NS was 4k in PTE/GLC (2017). In CS, it was at least 5k basic + specialist bonus of 800/mth with the same credential. With all the bonuses put into computation, you can clearly see that the diff is huge btw PTE/GLC and CS.

Just for info, I was offered an annual package of 59k in local PTE/GLC, compared to 99k (market rate as per govt's data) in CS. For a fresh grad engineering position.

lol where did u get 99k from? average fresh grad CS software engineer is only 4.2k. PTE and GLC is not be mixed. GLC is like a downgraded version of CS and PTE.

PTE software engineer for fresh grad is now 5k if u can pass the interview. Class of degree doesn't matter to them. They only trust their interview test.

Guess I can't really prove that to you here. Try asking engineers (your friends? I bet they will reveal such a sensitive figure especially if you are not from CS?) from DSTA, CAAS, and other stat board?

PTE can be a GLC (Govt-Linked Company), two of such places are NCS and ST engineering. If you want more PTE example which is also a GLC.... Singtel? lol

The degrees matters, for both places I been to. It decide ur starting basic.

99k is so low though. I'm 3yrs exp in data engineering and this year I'm already making 128k in pte. I'm not even one of the best ones.

Oh 128k also not high.. I guess if you sign on (army specialist) for uni fresh grad, can easily hit 128k package. or even higher. The salary is revealed on their career page I think, but the figure shown is excluding all bonuses.

Important is to be paid the market rate and with the right environment and culture I guess? When you are happy, you are more productive and in turn generate more profits or work done for the company and then you get more pay rise annually? The ideal case. lol

Well I didn't say my salary was high, but I'm willing to bet it's higher than many CS with the same years.

Can you show the link to the 128k career page?

Just do a google search? RSAF or SAF or the Navy career page? Saw it when I was looking for a career few years back. I applied and they rejected me because I was a PES C (labeled as useless?), thereafter they call me up for reservist for 5 years straight and more to come. lolll

The pay figures are also displayed at their career fair booth in NTU and NUS annually, if you visit one of them, you are sure to see 128k or more after doing some computation. Usually the basic are displayed, and its usually something like S$5788/mth to S$6828/mth basic, in a range depending on class of honors. You definitely need to take bonuses and $$ benefits into account for around 128k, more or less.

I think you need to provide more justifications rather than telling people to search themselves. Firstly, I only found that military fresh grad between 4k to 5.3k and not the amount u have mentioned. Wonder if the amount u have mentioned already included bonus.
Secondly, from what I have seen in this forum, there are always outliers in the data but generally, I think CS/PS are paid considerably well and I would say slightly above average (in terms of median). U can earn ridicously high salary at private COY but mostly earning lower than CS/PS.

Having been in both private and public sector, private definitely pays more on average.

However, public sector is a lot more stable (no retrenchment) and has better hours, which is why most of my peers took a paycut to enter public sector in their late 30s, early 40s.

That's my plan too! Could you share more on your friends' industry, and which stats board they join? Whats the paycut like?
