Why would IBs consider someone with non relevant experience or credentials? They have their pick of top candidates who are better, hungrier and younger with higher potential.

yes i work in this field. i worked in a lousy bank (Japanese, lol) where any random cat and dog can enter as an IB analyst.

If I were to apply to overseas roles, will accomodation be covered by the employer?

You can go on to take a Masters/Phd, get a CFA Chartedholder, network with the correct people, then your bachelor's degree pretty much becomes irrelevant.

CFA is less relevant than bachelor's degree for most firms. Might be still relevant for a few niaoji firms, but not so important for most.

To some extent, your bachelor's degree will still matter. But it is not so much of your bachelor's degree, but your pedigree such as where you study, where you work and etc assuming ceteris paribus.

I moved overseas within my firm (US bank) at the senior associate / VP level for FO role, accommodation was not provided.

I am going to assume that your pay is high enough to pay for your own accommodation.

Fresh out of Uni and I just got these 2 offers and am looking for advice:

1. Bloomberg Sales & Analytics, I'll most likely be starting at Analytics (helpdesk) for 2-3 years and then move on to sales.

2. Graduate Talent Program in IB Back Office Operations, 2-year long program where I'll be rotating departments / teams.

Starting salary for Bloomberg is higher.

Anyone have insights / advice about the career prospects / progression / exit opportunities in either path?

Appreciate whatever help and advise I can get.
