Financial advisors is 100% different than high finance. Without being disrespectful, financial advisors role is pretty much just sales roles.
Just like any sales roles, if you're good at selling, you can get paid alot. I know FAs who comfortably bring hom 20k++ way more than people at FOs, but yea you have to be a good seller. Plus it is a really competitive industries. There are so many FAs around, literally your only selling point against other FA is your soft skills.

To be fair FO is largely a sales role too. They need to sell their products to generate revenue. That's why it's called front office.

Hi, I wrote the above. There's a big mistake in that statistic. It should be either 0.20-0.25 OR 20-25%. It's not so bad as in 0.25%!

Agree salespeople sit in the FO. Think OP was saying it’s not as intellectually challenging as other roles say IB and research

I noticed this too, anyone more senior has colour on this demand? My guess is suppressed appetite in 2020 and possibly government restrictions on hiring of foreigners? Bunch of traineeships last year were suddenly replaced with these FT openings.

Treasury vs risk
Hello! May I know if taking up a treasury analyst role at a MNC (not finance related) or market risk at a local bank focusing on either interest rate risk or liquidity risk is better for long term prospects and which role has better advancement/ exit opportunities in the future? Both are entry level positions. The treasury role is a permanent role which starts off with doing cash management but I heard that there is possible advancement to liquidity management and FX hedging in the future whereas the market risk role is a contract role and will focus on generating reports, working on LCR, NSFR, IRRBB etc and exposure to different market risk functions as time goes by. Any idea which function would be a better option for learning opportunities and long term career with potential chances to get into IB as well?

neither - if you do make it to IB from either of these roles it's because of you, not the role
