Now $8416 per month is more than sufficient for me to continuing owning a car.

Of course, I choose to stay in a HDB 5-room which I think is already sufficient. I do not see the necessity to stay in a condo.
I am making 230k and I dont have a car. Car is a bad investment in Singapore, I would rather retire 5 years sooner.

I save 85% of my earnings now. If my investment is doing well, I should be able to retire before 40.

As a chemical engineer in one of the biggest company in the energy sector, I would advice anybody who is considering this career path to think twice before going down this route.

Unless you are the garang type (likes to OT, not much social life), there are better financial
pursuits elsewhere in other industries. Yes, chemical engineers can pay well, but it also involves much more sweat than say the financial sector.

I would have thought that civil engineering had a higher pay..last i checked they had the highest starting pay for engineering. But from friends who are in the sector, the work is mundane and hard work. Good luck anyone who is in there.

It is really decent income. At your age group, you should be top 10%.
