If you're a single working man like me, that's probably the better choice. I looked at my options for HDB and EC, and couldn't find any value in it as a single person.

38 years old married couple with 2 kids: 5 & 9 years old.

- Stock: $500k, generating about 18k dividend yearly
- Cash: $50k
- HDB: $360k (loan: $230k)

bro, i'm turning 29 this year as well. however, my savings pale in comparison to you, have about 25k+ or so only


$80k cash savings is alot of money, you can try to explore some options to invest and earn some interests or dividends before you get a girlfriend and settle down...

Thanks for your advice. My goal is to hit savings 100k by Sep 2018 and save at a lower rate.The remaining money will out into unit trusts and dividend stocks.
