Unhappy Resigning after 1 month probation and Boss tells me to stay

Hi all,
I need some advice regarding my new job that I attempted to leave after I probation. However it failed. He psycho-ed me to stay.

MY Reason for leaving:
1. Unhealthy work environment (the boss always gets very impatient, agitated easily and shouts me and my colleagues often.Everyone fear him. Tension in the office when he is in the office. We have to consult him very often and I always have a fear to go into his office everyday.

2.Many people before me has been dismissed/fired. 1 of his employee got dismissed after working for him for 6 years.- reason: she made mistake through ordering the wrong material. 1 of them has worked 1 year and got dismissed as well.- reason was because the boss said he has no sense of design. Many got dismissed after 3 months probation ended. I also heard of employees who got dismissed on the day itself.

3. I feel my job is unstable. He doesnt give enough notice to those he dismissed. Probably just 1- 5days notice. I have monthly school loan to pay the bank so I cant go jobless for a month.

4.I want to leave before my probation ends so as to avoid getting dismissed if he decides to. And also, to avoid the huge gap of unemployment - so that I do not have to put in this company in my resume.

What i told him:
I am leaving because I feel I do not suit this company. I am new and learning so I tend to make mistakes. Right now, my project stage is not so crucial yet, however as the project progresses the tendency for me making mistakes will be greater.I do not want to affect you and the company. I am stressed out and struggling trying to figure things out on my own as initially i thought joining this company, I will have assisted guidance as I learn.

He says:
(suddenly he became so nice*changed person*) Making mistakes and not being spoon-fed is infact is the best way to learn. There is nothing to be afriad of. What happened to the part you were telling me you were independent and strong in the interview? Then he goes on to promote his company how good it is.And says he is infact very patient with me and all the new employees.

I say:
I heard from past people whom you have dismissed because of the mistakes they made. I am afriad it happens to me.

He said he dismissed him because he sees no progression in the person and that he has a limits thats why they get dismissed. And he said I am doing well so far and I shouldn't let go this opportunity to learn. Then he tells me he has an upcoming project and is planning to give it to me.

Then i left the room telling him I will think about it again.

This is a small company about 10 people.
The good thing about this company is: I learn a lot within this short 1 month through his shoutings etc. However, I feel very depressed always having to come to work everyday to see him. Thankfully my colleagues are very friendly and helpful.

Pay wise: He pays me less $50 from my previous firm. I took it because I really want to learn in his company and I know I can learn here. However I didnt know the environment here is like this.

i have 3 job interviews nexxt week.

I dont know if I should still stay. Should I trust his words?
The project he just gave me is a very rare opportunity to have such a project. If i were to stay through the project it will take about a year +. However I am worried I make a huge mistake along the way and he dismisses me before I could complete it.

If I should leave, kindly advise me how I should put it to say to him. If I am going to see him for the second time regarding my resignation, I want it to be final and yet not burning bridges. I want to keep it professional and not contradict who I am (independent and strong- all the ******** I said during my interview).

I would totally appreciate any advise. Thanks all~

If i were you I will just leave since there is so much concerns and uncertainty. Most important you must be happy at a place where you spend a big part of your time. Of course, I will secure a job first before leaving.

In the first place you shouldn't have told him so much, just give him the letter and tell him that you have found a better opportunity and thank him for his guidance during the period you are in the company.

For now just accept whatever he has offered you, and continue to find a job. Also, please do not be so outright in explaining to the interviewers why you are leaving if not you will not be able to find a new job.

No need to think so much. Quickly secure a new job and immediately tender resignation (only after you secure a job offer).
