If assume your 4+ years is of RELEVANT exp to ministry, you would get 3.6k+/-50....around there...

questions:
-Just curious, how much is your starting salary when you first join your current company?
-I am quite impress that only with 2.5 years of exp, you are getting 4.6k(even with pass with merit)!!! Because in my GLC company, those consider "B" performer consecutively with 5 years of exp & with 2 promotions since fresh grad(2nd lower hon) only manage to hit 4.5k after 5 long years with the company!!!
-is your 4.6k purely basic or (basic + allowance) ?
-Are you in oil/gas industry or exxon or shell?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
To answer your question:
Since fresh grad in 2012 with Pass Degree (With Merit) with 2 years NS = $3,288
Assume all the 2.5 years of exp in the private sector are RELEVANT in the ministry/stat board.....you should be getting around 3.7k with 15-16 months annual package

I have one job change last year which of similar industry.
I was promoted once in my previous job after 1.5yr service.
4.6k include basic + car allowance + handphone allowance.
My starting pay is $3,700 and this is my 10th month in this company.
I am not in the oil and gas industry.
seems like I will not getting the same salary if i switch to public / civil sector.

non scholar can hit MX9 if you are really good.
ceiling for MX9 is approx 16k/mth
ceiling for MX10 is close to 11k/mth

for civil service, i understand that the interview standard format is 1st round meeting hr managers, 2nd round meeting directors. May i ask which round is the difficulty level of getting through higher? As in, is it a)1st round juz basic screening, 2nd round is real deal or b) 1st round is make or break, 2nd round is basically pleasing directors and saying the politically right stuff?

Depends. If your interviewer is someone who dislikes smart alecs and you say the politically correct thing, you also won't stand a high chance of being selected. Maybe you should have more interviews and have a feel of what majority of the interviewers like to hear.
