then beatles
now adam lambert
then chicken rice $1
now chicken rice $3.5
then hdb 100k
now hdb 500k
then starting pay 1.6k
now starting pay 3k
besides being youthful, i think there's nothing much to envy about since it's obviously more managable to own your own pad, raise a family etc back in the days...

Old Fart Manager
Astute observation, agreed there are two sides to the coin. Both sides can give thousand reasons why each generation was better off.
With children joining the work force soon, of course, am glad with the higher starting salaries out there, but at the same time, it is painful to see young upstarts driving BMs and talking condos and landed properties while still living in 25 yr old hdb.

Hi, may I know which department or areas of work are you in? (depending on how much you can reveal), and also is it a local or foreign bank? Perhaps you could include your education background if it mattered? Thanks!

Oh, not Investment Banking? I would think only investment banker get such paychecks..
Is your work-life balance as messed up as what is generally spoken about investment banking and perhaps the same as any form of front office jobs as well?
