No time to myself. Become very unhappy with family
Thinking of the prospect of doing that for 3 years and then reg for 3 years I think I will give up
Did fam med.
Year 2 halfway no calls liao.
Exiting was hard but persist can.
Work 8 to 5
Now AC in polyclinic.
Not complaining.
The magical job where U make 500k a year chilling with 20 nice patient with non life threatening medical condition don't exist.

Yup, you are from duke too? working till evening, burning weekends. I cannot imagine myself doing these for the next few years. I am married with children. 8-5 is my priority now.

Lolz.
Cannot tell U too much.
But family and sense of self is important.
If not ,U burnt ur late 30s and 40s when ur
child is growing up , your parents are aging or dying.
Not a good way to round up the second half of your life by spending all time and energy at work
Undergrad route I feel if U tong the late 20s, by mid 30s already con liao still not too bad
But if U grad at 38, best to finish training chop chop
U dukie might as well do FM and finish with ur bond
If not U mopex 4 years to finish bond also waste that 4 years

MOH is clever. Sun Tzu art of war. Divide and conquer. There is this govt run vs private run system in SG. Not just in healthcare. Also with NTUC Fairprice. Overall keeps a lid on prices, salaries etc. They do it for sectors that are necessities and not growth revenue generating or if it was would create social problems.
SG drs stay in public vs go out private. Both also kind of on losing end. But I think those who stay in public are the ones who hurt the profession when it comes to negotiating better remuneration overall. More easily satisfied with lower(they think is higher) salary.
Whereas in other countries the doctors are all together. Negotiate with govt as a united block. There are cons with that of course. But wont see like here OPS suan GP division.

Ya in sg, people seems to think private is the dark side, and public is full of altruistic and righteous people. (Both gp and specialist)

can I ask for all the GPs out there who left the public healthcare system and been a GP for a while now, do you regret your decision or do you feel generally happy with your current life? If so, what are the reasons? thank you!
