The recent Big 4 salary bumps were in anticipation of that la. So that when trainees naturally complain why 1 year TC still 2k pay, law firm management can point to the increased NQ pay to say "see, we got increase your pay to account for this wad".

You think local firms so good suka suka give payrise meh. This is sinkapore. Give you 1 chicken wing take back 1 chicken leg. Sinkie pwn sinkie penny pinching mentality.

Get the f out of local sweatshop firms ASAP if you can.

I see. But is what the poster said about silver circle firms in Singapore (the ones that take on sg graduates) true?

Is their starting NQ pay higher than the big four - i.e. somewhere between $7.5-9.5k?

particularly for HSF, NRF, Ashurst - I think the first two are offering uk dual qual tc now

NRF has a UK TC for SG graduates? This is the first time I'm hearing of this. Can you link us?

HSF's one is fine and pays around ~20% lower than their UK trainees. I generally don't recommend that anyone try to go straight for UK qualification as a fresh graduate though, given how long the SQE/BPP takes. Get that NQ salary as soon as possible, don't delay it by another 1.5 years.

s://.nortonrosefulbright.com/en/news/aa644490/norton-rose-fulbright-celebrates-40-years-in-singapore

this article just came out no more than a week ago, also see their job post on linkedin

not clear what the exact training structure is based on the article alone though, would probably need to wait for more info to be released surrounding it

I am at crossroads
I am inhouse counsel for past 2 years
Recently I interviewed with an international firm.

My job now is pretty standard hours 9am to 6pm. Almost no OT and no stress at all. I get flexible hours to plan my work in sending my wife to work and kids to school and picking them up in afternoon. My workplace colleagues are generally nice. However salary wise it is pretty low, $10k and little progression.

International firm (UK) salary is around $15k.

Should I make the move for 50% more in salary?

How is culture, pace, and people like in an international firm?

Your per hourly rate may be the same or lesser, as you may have to put in more than 50% more work than at your current job.

Apply to US firms instead. Minimum 70% - 140% pay bump.
