Alr said there’s a Singapore MC rate of $14.5-15.5k for 2PQE Sg scale.
What so surprising? It’s been like that for gazillion years.
Only thing is - do you have your FCH and Oxbridge to get into it?
Otherwise, connections?

Yes 14-15k is the correct range for Magic Circle SG offices (2PQE sg)

Mid-atlantic scale for US white shoe firms Sg office starts from 17k to 21k (2 PQE sg)

I can tell you for sure that it is way higher than 400k though. One B4 equity partner's salary has been publicly discussed in Singapore and it is far beyond 400k.
average Big4 Junior Partner is 16k - 18k for JP1.

Yeah there was a matrimonial case where a Big 4 JP was earning 15k per month. You can find it if you search for the archives in this thread.

Male lawyers are more sexist than most, lol. Happily married to someone outside of law for that reason.

I doubt he was JP 1.

This means the band starts below 15K

That scale starts from 3 PQE onwards, at least based on a mid-2021 hire.

With all this talk about money in the last few posts, we seem to forget that the law is about more than just money.

Someone also shared a few pages back that there was a recent ST feature which alluded to the structural barriers women face. That’s an incredibly important conversation for the profession to have. Given the significance of diversity in the legal profession, and the value of the profession broadly reflecting the society it operates in, what do you guys or gals think are areas where legal profession lacks diversity or where there exists unfortunate structural barriers? And can be done to address these areas?

With all the vitriol in the last few pages, I felt that it would be nice to refocus the discussion on how we can develop a profession of values that focuses on issues facing the profession than to keep harping on dollars and cents.

It's the Salary.sg forums lol. The whole point of this forum is to discuss dollars and cents.

I don't think law in Singapore has a diversity problem. Honestly speaking. It's one of the few high powered professions where women do as well or even better than men.

The only boys' club I can think of is maybe the criminal bar. But you ask yourself how many ladies want to practice in the area of crim litigation (that's not on the prosecution side)?

The structural disadvantages inherent to being a mother and maternity leaves etc are replete in every single industry and not particular to the legal profession.
