Can anyone tell me about LawAsia? They are always posting ads for trainees on the law society website.

You call this toxic? Or Selfish ?

I say this is the norm. I never had anybody teaching me since my trainees days and had to figure things out on my own. When I made mistakes I get badly scolded.

The same should go to my juniors. The industry is a brutal one. Go find things out on your own. Don’t expect me to teach. I have my billables to take care of.

Yes this is toxic. Just because you managed to 'survive' under less-than-ideal training culture doesn't mean others should be as accepting of such a needlessly unkind training environment as you did.

You have the power to make your juniors’ working experience that little bit better, but you would rather they suffer unnecessarily because you did when you were a junior yourself. That shows the kind of character you have, but hey, as long as you can sleep at night. Congratulations on making it past 7Th years.

This forum is full of rot.

Yes this is what I thought too, but the man is right. We can't keep handholding people. He has a good point

That being said although no one held my hand I try my best to guide my juniors. The realities are we all have billable hours

Good for you. I definitely think there's a middle ground between throwing someone in the deep end and leaving them to drown and constantly handholding them. it's possible to provide some guidance while also leaving juniors to conquer the learning curve on their own, though of course it would be 'easier' to do nothing at all

Cool Query

Anyone knows what the overall situation is like at TSMP Law for litigation? Thoughts on working or leaving that place?
