this is what happens when low ses people forget their place and try to rise above their station in life, genuinely cannot imagine attending law school with the likes of you.

Can we date? Lol same frequency.
I used to not be like that, and take initiative.
Guess what my senior told me- “I didn’t ask you to do, whatever time u wasted on that, u out it as non-billable”. I was f, left right centre.

When I didn’t do anything, he scold me for not taking initiative.

Now I think to myself, do and you’re damn.
Don’t do and you are damn as well.

Might as well take chill pill. When he calls then I do work. If he don't call and it’s 6pm, balik kampong.

Just curious-- In general, will your clients ever know what you did was billable or not billable?

Great to hear from this perspective. You are spot on in fact.
I now recall that there are a few trainees and assocs who took initiatives, made too many mistakes then had to be shown the door ... lol.

Law is not a industry that thrives on initiatives and breaking new grounds. You take the risks then you bear the consequence.

I also made some mistakes myself but because
I am the quiet type and wait for work to come, I manage NOT to raise expectations.

I could handle what I was given and from then on, 5 years later today am a senior associate.

Good sharing. I agree totally.
I was that trainee/associate and left within 2 months of getting called.
Partly cos of some personal issues. But more so bcos I was doing everything, tanking every bad thing that happened and my life became a mess

Likes of you should grow up and see the realities of life instead. Perhaps you are in law school and has not seen the real world out there yet.

I think you're the one still in law school and haven't seen the real world if you think the legal industry is a bastion of meritocracy. Its probably one of the sectors with the most disproportionate number of people coming from high SES backgrounds.

Anyway the level of trolling in this thread is too damn high.
