Does anyone know the prospects of trading grains and oilseeds?
I have no prior experience in this business but got offered a position as a junior trader, can fellow forumers shed some light on how the career prospects be like? Thanks!

As a newbie to the working world I wish to aim a little higher while I'm still young, free of obligations and commitments. But that's a good point you've brought up, one does not need to become a trader to live a comfortable life. Nonetheless thanks for your valuable input, it really helped!
Actually ur internship exp is really...... nonexistent. I've seen pple who have interned at Shell, Trafi, Cargill, LD doing real work like managing a vsl containing cargo that are worth millions, doing futures trading position with the global CEOs on CC., travelling overseas under trading house scholarship. If u think tt ur little internship exp about doing some little research paper for the UN is truly worth anything, think again. I agree with all the comments abt being hard to break in and even if u have a deg so wat? If ur resume is not impressive, and zero communication skills u can forget abt it. I'm not being a sore loser, in fact I grad from a local uni and I worked my ass off to get into a trading program a few years ago. Hell when I read some comments abt wanting to switch because of passion I nearly laughed my ass off. If ure passionate u wouldn't be looking from outside of the window. I personally have interned in some of the companies I mentioned earlier, and I even quoted some of MY REAL internship experiences. If u take this message positively do something abt it. Don't wallow in ur own little hole. Do something.

Hey thanks for the input, and indeed I am definitely not one to stand out in any form if you were to put it in that way. Good for you since you have made it so far and definitely, my little experience is as good as none.

With regards to passion and stuff I think you might have misquoted them from someone else's post. Passion, I too will be laughing if the real intention isn't about the money and job satisfaction. Perhaps I might have missed your earlier post (since all of the posts are unregistered), will you be kind to elaborate a little on those?

I'm working on it and thankfully I've managed to chance upon something good. But for those who are having a hard time trying to break in, what do you suggest? Especially for those who are already out of school or are in another industry? There are no straight answers but it will be beneficial if you can share your opinions with the community if you're willing. No obligations!
