5 years experience in finance/investment. how much can I expect?
Hi, I'm currently working in Malaysia. Plan to search for jobs in Singapore probably this year end or early next year.
I'm working in the capacity as an analyst. I plan to move into buy-side/private equity in Singapore firms (small-to-mid sized firms).
Michael page's salary report is quite optimistic that it says with 5-year experience, a person could fetch at least $6,000 - $8,000. However, job listings on JobsDB seem to pay about $5,000 only.
So, how much should I expect? My qualifications as follows:
- 5 years experience in financial industry
- Passed CFA L2
- Multilingual (including Mandarin/Bahasa)
- Good degree from well-know school.

Serious? that translates into a $13,000 ++/month! I thought this is the salary level for associate director/director above?
I am looking for a Analyst to AVP role.

I am currently in this industry. However do take note that such figures (160-200+k/annum) are normally attributed to prominent PE firms. Most of the buy-side analyst came from IB (M&A) experience (from associate level) wanting to attain a better work-life balance.
For fund management houses, pay range stated by those recruitment firms are pretty accurate. I would say a range of 4-8k for someone with 2-5 yrs experience. If you are able to contribute more to the firm besides only research, you might be able to demand for more.

whats the point of going for a buy-side job if all ur getting is a few thousand bucks? like that might as well join a normal corp finance job, easier, better working hrs and less stress.

it's always my ambition to go into buy-side. If I ask for 6K to 7K, is it reasonable? Should I put this expected amount on my CV or leave it out?
