From what i know about the stat boards from friends who are scholars, ie: Spring/EDB/IE.

Starting pay is around 3.5k - 4k with a bond of two years.

Im considering to apply for this scholarship too thus the questions coming!

Will the skills learnt in these stat boards be transferable assuming i am doing business development during the bond.
Will there be a pay cut if i switch to the pte sector after the bond?
Possibility of earning pay like more than 7k if i stay on?
Anyone knows the pay structure for the stat boards?

Attempted to find the pay structure but no available information.

Hope anyone can help with all these questions!

Thanks in advance!
Your skills should be transferable, but expect a slight pay drop. Stat board pays higher than private at the start.

You should be able to hit 7k at your early thirties or earlier if you stay on.

Two year bond is well worth it. Business development is a transferable skill. The slight pay drop should be insignificant if you factor in the cost the are sponsoring you for your studies.

Go ahead and take the scholarship with a peace of mind!

if there is no salary/promotion difference between a stat board scholar fresh grad and fresh grad..then it becomes pretty pointless to get yourself tied down. guess the benefits are simply the allowances over the course of the study..

anyone knows of the average bonus per year..annual package and if possible, yearly increments

Hi,
anyone can advise me? Im currently holding a stat board scholarship, and will be graduating with a second lower degree. (i've tried really hard, but the cse was really hard to get A)

However, when I submitted my results to the stat board HR, they din really comment on my results.

On the contrary, they have been raising my yearly allowance yearly which sent me a mixed signal. What I thought of might be due to my performance during the internship at the stat board which my supervisor was quite impressed with my work performance and had submitted a fairly good grading back to the HQ.

Now my worries is, will the stigma "second lower" affects my career progression in stat board?

With many worries,
-second lower-

Depending on where you live, yearly allowances are raised (or lowered) reflecting changes in the measured cost of living. It has nothing to do with your academic or internship performance.

With regard to your grades, you know that a 2.2 is lower than what most stat boards expect of their scholarship holders. You can expect some sort of penalty. This would probably come in the form of a lower starting salary. As far as I know, your grades do not play a part in future progression.

Obviously, every stat board has their own policies, so YMMV.

In any case, continue to do your best in uni and later in the workplace. Don't shortchange yourself.

i always hear quite a large difference between qualification and the starting pay.. with some ppl of lower class of honors quoting higher pay than a higher class honors in the public service sector..

i wonder if its bcos of the way they refer to their salary... maybe the lower class will state their annual income including bonus, AWS etc and divide by 12.. while someone of higher class honor will jus give the monthly income before factoring their bonus etc.

I think its more of different scheme of service and job scope. There are certain ministries and stat board that will only accept 2nd upper and above, whereas there are some that will accept even 3rd class.

At the end of the day, unless you're fresh grad, your salary will be based mostly on how many years of relevant experience you've chalked up, and how much the new org is willing to pay for you. Stat board has more autonomy in that they need not follow PSD regulations, so they can actually afford to pay more. In that sense, a person with lower class of honors but highly valued by the new org (therefore willing to pay more) may get higher pay than a higher class honors in a ministry.

Certain ministries and agencies' salary are different due to the nature of their job, as well as scheme of service. For example, engineers at DSTA get a higher starting pay than a generalist (e.g. Finance, HR, Policy etc) in a Ministry.

Hi. I've recently went to 2nd round interview with a stat board and awaiting their offer. How much do you think they would offer?

Fresh grad. Local uni, pass degree.
