Like your reason for sign-on, they did it to fund their studies.

My advice? Just do it if you don't have any other means to fund your studies.
fantastic, at least i know there are some successful examples. ^^ Thanks for your advise bro, appreciatedd !

Also, working gives you the relevant experience. For instance, if you want to be an accountant, try to work as accounts assistant while studying ACCA. Sure, the salary is lower but you know the job better. It also helps you to know if you really want to be doing that for the rest of your working life as studies do not match job positions as many had found out after starting work.
You have a point there my friend. I've thought of it too. But for my case, i cant even afford to fund my private diploma that suppose to last for 1year+ in order for me to proceed to ACCA. Therefore i would need work for like one year before i can start studying my diploma. I know that sucks but thats the truth. Do you still advise the same route?
Although Accounts is my interest now, i wouldnt be sure that it would be my interest in the next 10years.

Your big3 accountant friend is bs-ing you. I am very familiar with the structure in the big3/4. There is no way a mid 30 guy who wasted years in the army and another few years in a SME can reach a senior partner level earning >20k monthly in such a short time. The maths just don’t add up at all.

Even the highest flier who starts off in a big3 straight away can only reach a junior partner level by 35 years old and it does not pay >20k for sure. Most fresh grads male with honors will only be at manager or at most senior manager level by mid 30s. That is like 4 pay grades & 20 years of exp below a senior partner.

Default Tink more. Not just money. Sign on nth wrong. but...

Sign on if you feel that the money is worth your time. There is nth wrong wif signing on, even after your first contract. A man got to do what he got to do. No money is like tt one.

Even if you managed to get your pte dip while serving as a regular, it wun help much in ur next career (accountant). Without experience, it is not easy to find an accounts executive job. They will say min exp is Full Set Accounts blah blah. Ur how-many-years-chiong-sua oso is just like that. Prolly will get started at accounts assistant level oso. Pay is prolly 1.6k? Moreover the environment is female predominant. U need to gossip gossip to survive one. Ur cup of tea?

If you really want to take accountant route, at the end you are also going to have to take ACCA. It is not easy to pass. Test is not tikam tikam mcq one. Some need to write essay, some need to type calculator until u up lorry. All papers must pass. Fail then retake n fail until u pass. Each fail is 1/2 year wasted. A lot of people get stuck n give up. After army ppl head grow grass. U sure u can handle that kind of academic rigor?

Even with pte degree u oso will get stuck. Accounting is a profession, not generalized job. Not ez if you are not that kind of person. By signing on u will never noe if u r that kind of person. 30 years old then realize u choose wrong path is much more jia lat.

An accountant here. prepare to work long hours. especially month end closing, when everyone starts submitting invoices to you. you up lorry. My office I am one of 2 men inside, 4 girls. so 2 male and 4 female. I graduated from NUS and working as accountant in MNC now.

Sure as hell, the girls gossip like fcuk everyday. i wear what clothes they also comment.

For example, girl A was absent today and she knew what I was wearing the day before. Because the other girl B told her what I wore to work. I mean, in my head, what the fcuk!?\

i dont think you go army you can become accountant, sure Up the lorry until you jia lat jia lat and mati..

LOL. A 35ish senior partner in a big4 is already super rare, I worked in E&Y before and this has happen only to 2 people from elite university in E&Y over the last 10 years.

If the friend can really reach that level so young after spending most of his career in Army and SME with only a part time ACCA, he would be a legend among the whole accounting/auditing industry in Singapore and be the talk of every associate and undergrad of accounting.

101% is big cannon.

TS is taking the responsible way out. deserves recognition for that. Sometimes i really wonder how many regulars is sign on because they are financially responsible, and not like the typical stereotypical 'useless n lazy but like ez money' people.

Regardless of what u choose to do, jia you for that!

don't waste time reasoning with him.

If you know he is a big cannon. Straightaway shoot him vulgar. Don't waste time.

He is probably a loser in life. Who the hell still bother to lie on the internet so discreet.

Just tell the truth idiot.

i know that its gonna be tough and gonna take a serious paycut while switching after my first contract expires. But im ok with it. The only problem is just like what you say, im afraid of realising im in the wrong path only after i've stepped into the industry.

But there is no way for me to find out unless i experience it myself.
