You were caught for porn? You better come out with some good excuse and it is unusual to get a Fair performance during NS.

Is it normal for the hr to be radio silent after interview even after sending a follow up email? At least they should confirm that I am rejected if a follow up is sent right

Hi, does anyone know why ministries sometimes offer one year contract and sometimes two year contract? I heard that two years is the default one, not sure if it's true. And I just accepted an offer for a one year contract. Should I be worried that it's just one year contract cos it might be a sign that they're not intending to keep me as perm staff?

Anyone knows what does it usually mean if a Statutory Board's probation is only 6 months compared to the "usual" 1 year? Does it mean its easier to pass or does that mean job security risk?

I asked about the 1-year thing during one of my interviews. The HR clarified that the "1-year contract" is more like a "1-year probation", where in the 1 year, the company will deem if you fit the position that you applied for and if you are doing okay in the company. If you are, then there will be extensions and etc.

Yup the HR also told me that it is like a probation period. But I also have a friend who was just offered a two year contract in another ministry, so I was wondering if there are any qualitative differences between a one year contract and a two year contract. Maybe the one year contract has lower job security due to lower chances of them renewing you? Or maybe it's just differences in SOP between ministries?

How long since the interview? On your part, continue to apply and go for interviews. No point to sit and wait.

is it normal to hear only once from HR after accepting a verbal offer?

the only time was to go for health check-up.

My views to above posts..

First, be it 1 year or 2 year contract, it depends on organisation, and their policy. Believe even within the same organisation, different roles and departments will also have different policy on the contract period.

Second, probation period also depends on organisation and sometime the role.

Don't over analyse such things, there is never a hard and fast rule to it. Instead focus on the role and if it is what that you want for your career, and if it provides opportunity for you to grow; cherish the opportunity, and work hard.

In reality (especially in today's uncertain and fast changing world), even a permanent position is also never always permanent. Things (the economy, the industry, the organisation, the people) are always changing, and who knows, you might even decide to leave before the probation/contract is up.

Hello, is it normal for HR of a ministry (MHA) to tell you that you are shortlisted for a position despite having to go for medical check-up, security clearance and I submitted my payslips? I should not presume anything is concrete yes?
