Is joining a company with operations in a few western countries purely doing recruitment (but will only be based in sg) better than starting off as a generalist in a mnc better in giving a kickstart to your career in hr? Fresh grad here. Would like to get some opinions. Thanks in advance!

IMO, specialist will always have a better prospect than generalist.

pure recruitment is 99% sales job, generalist in mnc is more proper hr job. different career path. depends on what you want.

Would it be right to assume recruitment would be a plus point if you're intending to head towards talent acquisition in the future?

talent acquisition is just a fancy word for recruitment in most companies. the real talent acquisition work is usually regional or global in mega mncs and has little to do with recruitment. hrbp work is actually much closer to real ta policy & strategy compare to recruitment sales.

Hi all, i'm currently thinking of going for a private degree in HR at Kaplan. I'm considering between Murdoch or UCD. I have minimal experience in HR. I worked as a part-time recruitment officer at a recruitment agency. I'm not sure if that even counts as proper experience.

1) In general, which university is more recognised in Singapore?

2) I have a diploma in information technology from SP, but i am looking to switch to HR. Will i face difficulties in getting accepted because i studied something unrelated to HR and also what are my job prospects as compared to those from local universities(be realistic i can handle it) once i graduate?

3) What is the difference between a "Generalist" and "Specialist" in terms of what they do and? Also L&D, C&B?

I'm ignorant but i hope to learn more =]
