They themselves undermine the audit industry by not joining audit firms

Are you from NTU? Why would you be happy to see bad things happening to your juniors or local graduates?
I'm from NTU. Our juniors, the younger generation of local graduates, are undermining the local audit industry by not joining audit firms.

To the younger generation... Join the Big 4. Why hesitate?

Despite the good pay of $4.3K, you still don't want to work in an audit firm? Yes, the hours are long, and the work-life balance isn't ideal, but it’s a valuable experience.

Please don't force us to offshore audits overseas until there are no more internship opportunities.

Think about the future younger generation—Generation Alpha—who wants to join the audit industry in the future.

Do that by carrying down the craft.

But the writing was always on the wall with race to the bottom fee undercutting and lowering of standards by importing third worlders.

Industry always moves faster than education. Audit and other accounting jobs were losing prestige faster than what was reflected in uni IGP scores and selectiveness. There's a time lag.

That's why all the good A Level scorers who selected accounting thinking it will translate to the prestige they 'deserve' when they enter the job market, were so shell-shocked when they find out that it's pure dogswork done by Malaysians or capable of being outsourced to other poorer countries. Hence, all bitter and jaded.
Shock is shock lah. I know one SMU was shock he has to work with Malaysian.

That's why nowadays smart JC folks and young gen local graduates smart liao. They studied CS and join tech company. Lol.

Aiya people who studied accountancy are introvert lah. What you want?

Lmao nice try Big4 HR

There is no craft. Audit is a commodity. Commodity should be procured by obtaining the cheapest resource inputs.

As a matter of fact, we should allow O Level grads to join Big4 straightaway via apprenticeship schemes. Many auditors in the UK are school leavers who don't go to uni and instead work and learn on the job via apprenticeships. They should look at adopting the model here too.

You don't need much education or study to do such a simple rote job. And everything else can be learnt OTJ

Even those from poly avoided all these 💩 by changing courses at university. Quite a number of people who studied and done well in accounting in poly switched to economics, finance, or IT in 2020, the year the cut-off for accounting plummeted.

"Despite the good pay of $4.3k"

What the fk are you smoking? how is 4.3k pay good for the amount of BS you have to endure and the 60 hours a week every week for months / years even worth?

Big 4 jobs are no different than grabfood workers working 10 hours a day hitting 4.5k lol
