Salary Comparison
Bumping the latest Salary Comparison List.
From now on, mid-careers will have a separate list as their YOE in MOE, when put together with the dip, degree and PGDE counterparts, doesn't really help to compare (since someone with 15YOE private and 1YOE in teaching vs someone with 10YOE private and 6YOE in teaching, will already have some disparity amongst themselves), so will be easier to compare just mid-careers by themselves.

If an older teacher is doing this, they're labelled as lazy, not doing what they're paid to do, taking up the position that a younger person should have.
If a younger teacher is doing this, it's because they system has failed them.

Because the circumstances are very different?
Excluding BTs, are there really that much differences between the workload of a geo3 vs that of a geo5, at the non-KP level?
It is perfectly normal for a geo5 ordinary teacher drawing ordinary geo5 pay to do the work of a geo5 teacher. Teach 1 or 2 grad classes, IC for a CCA and maybe lead a small committee.
On the other hand, why are we expecting geo3s to do geo5 work while drawing geo3 pay? We see geo3s with 2-3 years of service already forced to be CCA ICs, coordinators (de facto level heads) and leading not-so-minor committees. Overworked and underpaid. Because 'school needs'.
Compensation should reflect the actual work done, period.

As a so-called hi-po officer I was doing seo2-level work (covering HOD during COVID in 2020-21) while drawing approx 5k geo3 salary lol. Yes, got A grade for both years and fast promotion to geo4, but jumped to private sector for almost 35% salary bump.

Because cheap and good. That's how we do things in Singapore Inc. Run it like a business. Keep costs as low as possible and extract maximum productivity and value.

The mindset is that you need to prove that you’re able to take on the higher scope by actually doing it first, before they promote/pay you the compensation for that level of work. And not the other way round.
That, unfortunately, is how the system works.
