Promotions are for individuals who strive to be better than their current level.
Teacher who just good in teaching the current level is only good for their current level.
No need promotions

Assuming both not scholars... cep and pb are the same. Why the rate of promotion is different?

I heard that cohort promotion for guys is usually a year after NIE (faster than girls who usually take 2 years). I wasn't promoted this year though. Wondering if any of the guys here are or were in the same situation as me? thanks

Some promotion take place in Oct but not sure if they make a separate list for Oct promotees. My school usually announces april and oct promotion in april. Maybe you can check with you SL? Usually all males get promoted at the 1 year mark

Apr and oct promotion?
Just received news that my promotion is in Oct. I came in with other teachers, but I’m the only one in Oct. Spoken to my RO and P but gave the same reasons, age, cep, grading etc etc etc. Same old things that I already know.
But honestly, I did more work than the others. Just felt unfair that life’s like that. Not that they’re not my peers but why me?
And what are the implications for promoting in Oct?
Got so upset over it, I was pulled to do department work during practicum already while the others focused on their prac. But yet, I’m in this situation...

“But honestly, I did more work than the others.“
you may think that you are doing more than the rest. but a lot of times, you dont actually fully see the things others are doing.

Oct promotions most of the time are for those in NS, cohort promotions

The norm for male teachers with NS, once you enter service (most of the time in mid year after your TP2), you will get promoted the following year Oct. It is considered a cohort/batch promotion for graduates with NS service. So e.g. if you entered Jun 2017, you will receive your promotion in Oct 2018 to GEO 3.
The only reason why your promotion will be held back, is because you committed something major which then postponed your probation period
