Likely yes, but it's not a hard and fast rule. C+ is also fairly common for BTs fresh off their cohort promotion.
Anyway, your next few years as a GEO3 is really the time to milk the good performance grades. If you are GEO3 but working almost the same as a GEO4/5 teacher, with full load, committees, CCA, and a decent selection of projects, A or B grades are almost a given - if you don't screw up your T&L, FTship, etc.

Usually yes, but not a hard and fast rule. I got B after promo to GEO3.

Im also interested to find out what are some portfolios or committees I should take part in the upcoming year to position myself better for FLP or for school to consider grooming me, given that I’m already a scholar but I’m seconded to one of the independent schools.

It is very hard to promote if you are in an independent school unless someone moves out of the school. You are likely to stay stagnant even if you are a scholar. Most independent schools have very experienced teachers who stepped down from leadership elsewhere and joined as direct staff. This is my experience after a few years in an independent school. If you dont see much opportunities, consider moving to HQ or other government schools.

This is still quite a junior grade, so the presentation at cluster platform is likely a factor that helped him/her stand out from the rest. Committee head…it depends on what committee we are talking about. Some work will be more seen, such as staff wellbeing. The workload sounds manageable. MSEA gold award would mean that the person gives others a pretty good impression.
Sharing with you how I obtained my A grades over the years:
- staff well-being chair
- sharing at cluster level
- KP
- IPE
- relief comm
- timetabling team
The work here is definitely a little overboard, but it all depends on individuals.

The above was shared previously, but someone commented that they didn't observe this drop in 2021.
Previous GEO scale:
A 2.8-3.5
B 2.25-2.75
C+ 1.55-2.2
C 1.25-1.5
C- 0.5-1

Maybe colleagues can share data points to identify which version seems to be in effect this year? My own PB quantum fits both versions, unfortunately…
