Default N/O Level Holder

Hi I am a guy with N level only and working as a Admin Supvr/Secretary in govt sector for abt 10years. After 10 years my pay is only $2100.

Recently I went to a stat board organisation for a job interview and base on the jobscope (quite similiar to my current one) i gave my salary expectation of 15% more. Am I asking too much? Of course there are alot of pple with better qualification and fresh from school can take up the job with lower pay.

Since you are moving to a stat board (still government to government) I guess they would at most match your current pay.

Stat boards & civil service share largely the same pay matrix, so difference won't be big.

To be frank 15% increment will bring your pay to $2.4k, that is way too high for a N level holder, almost equal to a local uni grad liao.

Well, it depends on what you want. If you do not have any financial obligation and wanted to try out a new environment, maybe you could take up the offer.

At the same time, if possible, go for some courses to improve yourself.

Ya, life's unfair. The poor are suffering while the rich are enjoying themselves. The poor will one day overthrow the rich.

Whatever the case may be, you screwed up your studies in the past and now are stuck. You have 3 choices left if you don't want to spend the rest of your life rotting on a 2k pay.

1) Invest time, effort & money in upgrading your education (Diploma, NITEC, professional courses etc.)
2) Be an entrepreunur
3) Take up a pay for performance job, i.e. sales incentive or business results oriented

If you are not willing to do any of these, I can tell you jump where also the same. Nobody is going to pay much more than $2k for a N Level holder. In fact, the reason you get to $2k is because you stayed in civil service long enough to enjoy the normal standard increase, otherwise I doubt you will even reach $2k in private sector.

Do something & stop senselss complains about life.

It's not impossible to earn more than $2k or even $3k; however, you will have to work your way up to it.

It might be a good idea to pursue some private education courses. See if your employer will subsidise such courses. Also ask them about your RoA (Route of Advancement). This will give you a better understanding of how your pay scale will progress, with or without a degree.

See here and decide if you really want a degree:

Best of luck!
