The mean salary for nus biz with honors is 4.1k. Granted the median is 3.5k but still...

even better, he claims to be in the same LSE batch as me. unbelievable these sims people.

QNS: should i get HR to call him in just for me to give him a good one?
I'm from the real LSE too.Just that I went to SIM first and then made it to LSE.

We might be in the same alumni community lighten up!

totally no? all grad programs are 38 and up. MA programs are 42 and up. you don't need relevant internship experience. 'Good honours('2:1) are a dime a dozen. 75th percentile income for biz grads is like 38 and above? I really don't think that is "few".

75th percentile for most local schools is about 4.5k and up... A simple google search will reveal that, haix.

://.salary.sg/2015/graduate-employment-survey-2014-published-2015/

Number of courses with 4.5k 75th percentile

By Average Gross Monthly Salary (in brackets are the 75th-percentile salaries)

SMU Law (4-years programme) Cum Laude and above – $5,571 (6,000)
SMU Law (4-years programme) – $5,332 (5,950)
NUS Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B) (Hons) – $5,247 (5,800)
NUS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery – $4,886 (5,200)
NUS Bachelor of Arts (Architecture) – $4,400 (4,750)
SMU Information Systems Management (4-year programme) Cum Laude and above – $4,151 (4,540)
SMU Business Management (4-year programme) Cum Laude and above – $4,116 (4,500)

Only 2 is relevant to business. 3 is law and 1 is medicine and 1 architecture.

Most local school 75th percentile is 4.5k?
simple google search and haix indeed

to the poster(s) who seems to be extremely anti-SIM, why? you got butthurt because your colleague from SIM got promoted and you didn't?

I graduated from SIM. started with an ok-ish 3.2k. now, I'm on 6k, with 4 years of exp. at the end of the day, the paper qualification isn't such a big deal that you make it out to be.

sure, you are less likely to make it to MA programmes at the banks. but what percentage of grads from local unis manage to enter these programmes? less than 10%?

for the rest of us, its an open job market out there. my expat boss asked me to vet through some CVs of fresh grads recently. he had to ask me what's the difference between all these universities (some put SIM, others just put UOL and of course there are the local uni grads).

I told him how local companies typically consider local uni grads first, followed by those who studies overseas, and lastly the distance learning grads. told him I was from the last category.

In the end, he hired the one who was most convincing during the interviews - someone who was able to communicate well. in this case, its another lousy SIM grad. just like me.

if you want proof that paper qualification isn't such a big deal in the long run, go to linkedin - check out the profiles of AVPs/VPs/Ds in the banks, those Indian/Pinoy expats. these are the ones with salaries from 8k.

take a look at their education, which university they came from. Anna University. Nagpur University. Mapúa Institute of Technology. heard of them? me neither.

do you think the decision makers at these orgnizations would think "ah these guy has been performing well, let's promote him to AVP. no wait he is from SIM lets not promote him. let's promote that guy from NUS instead because, you can't go wrong with NUS."

unless you are from oxbridge or LSE, pls dont compare.

60/100 can get you a 2:1 in the UK, 60/100 is merit in SG.

it is widely known that local unis bell curve to push grades down. in the UK theres no bell curve because most students cannot make it.

its only in sim that they bell curve to push students to pass - if not, everyone will drop out and they wont be able to collect their $$
