As with any discussion forum and even real-life gossip, one must learn to differentiate signal from noise. That said, it's a known fact that finance-related jobs are more highly remunerated. Some guys here are telling the truth.

Talk to enough people and you get a sense of things.

The IRAS and CPF should have the most accurate and unbiased data, but the limited info they released aren't good enough for the data-hungry people here. On the other hand, data from those HR firms are too outrageous.

For a change, I may like to work overseas, any advice on how to look for one? I'm in the training profession, by the way.

Hi bioman, continue looking. Shows, trade fairs, friends, relatives etc. Set aside a bit of budget for going to such things. It will be good investment. You are in the "training profession" ? I do not mean to be rude but you yourself should know what other people think of trainers... It is like showbiz. Either you are at the top (with all the media hype and books etc) or you are nobody.

A qualified Accountant in his forties earning around S$18k per month is reality. This is actual data, not guessing game. Know of some Accountants in their thirties (in the financial industry) getting a lot more than that.

the agd was at one of the invitation-only career fair at my uni. the annual salary range for all their positions were printed clearly on their brochure. 'shocked' is what i can say when compared to other government agencies. the agd people were the only ones who didn't bother to try to pull in graduates because the numbers in their brochure is so attractive. that was the first time when i realized some of the finance related salary myths were not myths at all.

Knew of a finance manager (CPA and masters) in an MNC earning around $10k. Age? Only mid-30s.

Me? I am a few years older than this person but only got half the pay.

hmmm....
late 20's with 2 years exp 80k per annum = too low
4-5 years exp with 4.7k per mth = LOWER than average

I am in my mid-30's can't even reach 4k per mth. Guess I should have really jumped off a building...

Makes me wonder are these posts meant to encourage ppl or to rub more salt into wounds.

I was the one who posted this. It is not that I don't believe his pay n achievements nor I am jealous of it. In fact I applaud for his achievements.

The thing here, to alot of ppl in the lower or middle bracket this is relatively a gd amount. It might be even equal to income of 2-3 households.

Now if you find that 4.7k per mth is low and you are in your crisis, are you implying that all lower income ppl including me ought to put to death?

The post starter is saying that his contract is ending soon but couldn't find a job at the moment. And here we are having ppl holding a 4.7k per mth saying that he is in his crisis. So what shld be a good income 10-20K/mth or > 1 mil per annual?

Ppl like me w/o much capability is trying only to make a decent living. Ppl who can earn 10, 20 or even more, I certainly respect them because they have worked hard and deserved it.

I m not sure if u are intentionally trying to show off or trying to post for the fun of it. But pls pls, next time when u post pls thk abt of others who are earning much lesser than u. Not everyone is as capable and fortunate as you are, given your current situation.

Do you what is a crisis? i.e. your bank account is gng dry, you have or gng to lose your job and you have a to have a salary coming in every mth to feed your family and pay loans and bills. If you don't understand the meaning of crisis i suggest you find the dictionary.

Pls be satisfied with what you have and stop rubbing salts into others wound.

argh
So what do you want to hear from me?

Option 1:
"wah you are earning alot already le. I m in my 40s and only earning 8k/annum incl bonuses. Kudos to you. You are my GOD! You are very x 10 capable! Wish i have that pay, etc..."

How's that feel? Boosted your ego already?

Option 2:
"wah you earn so little how u survive? Yr pay is only 10% of what i earn. Better don't get married la, u will be in big financial distress. Ppl at your age are earning at least twice than you, etc..."

How's that feel? Got consoled or got smacked in the face (as you wanted)?

Moral of the story, pls don't post senselessly...
P.S. I don't know what you are trying to achieve here
