just say you found a better offer or change of plans etc. i dont think need to be in detail, your decision should be of a private matter isnt it? unless you already sign some stuff then thats a tough situation to get out.

Just say that due to sudden change in family circumstances, you cannot take up the offer at this time. Thank them for the opportunity.

I assume you are asking how to reply in detail without seeming like ypu played them and ruined future opportunities with them.
