Default [Advise] Offer package negotiation?

Hi

I have received an offer from a household name tech/e-commerce company and would like to ask if there is room for negotiation.

Current package: Base + 10% performance bonus + misc cash benefits
Offer package: Base + 13th month AWS + up to 3 months performance bonus + misc cash benefits

There is 15% increase in base component but just 5% increase in total overall package as my current company's misc cash benefits is better.

Should I nego? I'm at early-mid career if it matters.

You should definitely negotiate! I can confidently say that most employers expect candidates to negotiate. But the important thing is not to negotiate just for negotiations sake. When I negotiated my latest offer, I sent the hiring manager a list of points on why the company needs someone like me, the value I would bring to the company, and justifying the amount I negotiated for (additional $400 basic with $50 phone bill subsidy).

Thanks for the insight! I know there is still some room for negotiation based on their internal pay band and based on the subpar benefits. Just concerned I may be pushing too hard as an early-mid career profile.

Pushing too hard is a concern yes, but your original question was whether you should or should not negotiate. The answer to that is definitely yes, and for how hard you should push, you need to decide for yourself.

I offer a different advice.
I'm director level. Imagine my disdain when I approve an applicant for this amount if xxx pay but then this candidate want to negotiate...

Sometimes I just tell my staff to take up another candidate.
Or if we give in.... We will mark the employee. Either give him the suckiest work assignment....
Or give him the worst cubicle like facing door...
Or give him the lousier laptop spec...
Or give u more work to get back that "extra" you ask for. Like call you after work etc.
To stress you until you leave..

You think you have the upper hand. Wait till you join. Also we can purposely give you lower grade so that extra you ask for will result in lower bonus...

You don't know how all this things work.... Maths is maths.

If what you're saying is true, then you're a horrible boss and the employee would have been lucky to have dodged a bullet.

Glad you did negotiate because what you received seems like a lowball offer.
But by budget do you mean salary range? Companies have a range for a reason. Usually, a career band will encompass staff with a range of experience.

Appreciate the advice and insight. Negotiation is definitely tricky, and it can potentially affect one's relationship with the management and/or colleagues like you said.

However, hope you were sarcastic in your remarks.. just consider how you would feel if you put yourself in the shoes of staff in those scenarios you laid out...
